have any deep sense of their need of His guidance, and they have such confidence in their own wisdom that they mistake their own judgment for the guidance of God. Having prayed for Wisdom, but still being confident in their own judgment, they become all the more sure that their opinion is right and they attribute their own opinion to God. If we are to have God’s guidance we must be utterly emptied of all confidence in our own judgment; and, in a sense of our own inability to decide for ourselves,
